After two months of beta testing, Asus has finally released the stable Android 16 update for the Zenfone 11 Ultra. The major update for the Zenfone 11 Ultra is rolling out in batches and is expected to be available to all users in a few weeks.
The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is receiving the Android 16 update with build version 36.0210.1420.27. Since this is a major update, you can expect its size to be over 1GB.
While other brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus are incorporating several features and improvements with Android 16 for their devices, Asus only includes stock features on the Android 16 update for its devices.
Android 16 for Zenfone 11 Ultra: What’s New
Here’s the official release note for the Android 16 update for the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra.
- Upgraded system to Android 16.
- Updated Android security patch to 2025-12.
- Adjusted the system navigation settings. The Predictive Back animation can be triggered by either the back gesture or long-pressing the back button.
- Added the Notification cooldown setting: when many notifications are received within a short time, the device will lower its volume and minimize alerts.
- Added the skip countdown button to the screen recording feature.
- Added Theft Protection entry: Settings > Security & Lock Screen > Theft Protection.
- Added Advanced Protection entry: Settings > Security & Lock Screen > Advanced Protection.
- Some 3rd-party apps are not compatible with Android 16 yet.
Due to the limited new features, this update doesn’t compare favorably to other updates like ColorOS 16, OriginOS 6, One UI 8, and OxygenOS 16. However, there are still some value additions that make it worthwhile to install.
If you own a Zenfone 11 Ultra, you can look for the update in the Settings. The update is being rolled out in batches, so if it’s not available on your device yet, it will be soon. Make sure to take a backup of your data before installing the update.
The Zenfone 11 Ultra was released in the first half of 2024 with Android 14 OS. Despite it being the flagship device, it’s only eligible for two major updates. This means that the Android 16 update will be the last update for the device.
