TPC26 Set for Early June in Baltimore
The Trillion Parameter Consortium (TPC), the global initiative driving the future of AI for scientific discovery, is set to host its next annual conference in Baltimore, Maryland from May 31 through June 4.
TPC was formed in 2023 to push AI-focused scientific computing into a sustained orbit. The group started at Argonne National Laboratory and quickly grew to include participation from dozens of research labs around the world.
The group held a successful TPC25 event last July in San Jose, California that attracted more than 350 researchers, industry leaders, and AI experts with hands-on training and keynote addresses by government officials and industry experts. You can watch a short video about TPC25 here.
TPC is looking to build off last year’s success and expand participation with TPC26, which will feature two days of hackathons and tutorials followed by three days of plenaries and breakout sessions. The event will take place at a hotel/conference center located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor area.
In the coming weeks, TPC will provide more details on how attendees can register for TPC26. It will also put out the call for contributions and keynotes for TPC26, so if you’re working on a compelling AI project for science or engineering that you would like to share, be ready to share your idea soon. Stay tuned.
TPC26 will take place against the backdrop of Genesis Mission, the Department of Energy’s moonshot initiative for furthering scientific discovery through AI. DOE officials are expected to speak at TPC 26.
Genesis Mission, which launched in late November 2025, aims to utilize AI techniques and HPC heft to accelerate the pace of innovation in biotechnology, critical materials, nuclear energy, space exploration, quantum information science, semiconductors and microelectronics, and economic and health security.
The project will utilize the new supercomputers that DOE announced in late October, including the 100,000-Nvidia GPU system “Solstice” going into Argonne, as well as the large AMD-powered “Discovery” supercomputer that will replace Frontier at Oak Ridge National Lab.
In the meantime, TPC has other events on its schedule. TPC representatives will be in Osaka, Tokyo next week for the SCA/HPCA26 conference, and there will also be a TPC track that will feature two days of invited talks from TPC participants and leaders. TPC member Rio Yokota from the Institute of Science Tokyo will be leading the TPC contingent at SCA/HPCA26.
Next up on the TPC calendar will be the TPC Spring Hackathon April 14-16 at CINECA in Bologna, Italy. CINECA and TPC are partnering with Nvidia and Open Hackathons to host the hybrid event, which begins with virtual sessions on March 31 (Day 0). TPC is seeking HPC leaders to bring projects to the TPC Spring Hackathon, which has a deadline of February 19 to apply.
