The initiative is led by the Ministry of National Education, Innovation and Digital Development (MENIDjib) and supported by international partners, including UNESCO and UNESCWA.
The strategy’s development began with the RAM diagnostic phase, facilitated by UNESCO, which assessed the country’s AI landscape and readiness. The initiative aims to ensure that AI adoption in Djibouti is ethical, inclusive, and aligned with national priorities, while supporting sustainable development goals.
Officials emphasized that the strategy will position AI as a key driver of innovation, equity, and economic opportunities. By prioritizing inclusivity and digital sovereignty, Djibouti seeks to harness AI responsibly, creating benefits for all citizens and fostering a competitive digital ecosystem.
