UNICEF Lesotho is strengthening efforts to promote child-safe and inclusive digital transformation through a high-level Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) workshop held on Wednesday at the Avani Lesotho Hotel & Casino.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders to explore how digital systems can better support essential child-focused services, including birth registration, education, healthcare, and social protection.
Participants examined ways to build digital systems that are efficient, secure, and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on protecting children’s data and ensuring that vulnerable groups are not excluded from access to essential services.

Representing the Ministry of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Kanono Ramashamole outlined the government’s vision for a digitally inclusive Lesotho, supported by interconnected platforms that link key public services.
He explained that integrating systems such as birth registration, education, and healthcare would enhance planning, improve service delivery, and enable more effective, data-driven decision-making for children’s welfare.
He further emphasized the importance of early-stage integration to ensure seamless access to essential services throughout a child’s development.
