The enhancements are designed to help organisations integrate data, enterprise systems, and AI models into a unified environment where AI agents can not only analyse information but also take action.
Snowflake Inc. has announced major updates to its AI capabilities, expanding its Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Code offerings as it pushes to position itself as the “control plane for the agentic enterprise.” The enhancements are designed to help organisations integrate data, enterprise systems, and AI models into a unified environment where AI agents can not only analyse information but also take action.
The company said the upgrades reflect a shift in enterprise AI from question-answering systems to autonomous, action-oriented agents that operate across business workflows. By linking trusted enterprise data with AI tools, Snowflake aims to enable organisations to better align decision-making, operations, and automation within a single governed platform.
Snowflake Intelligence has been upgraded to function as a personalised work agent for business users, capable of learning individual preferences and workflows over time. This allows it to deliver more relevant insights and automate routine tasks while maintaining strong governance and security controls across enterprise data environments.
New features in Snowflake Intelligence include upcoming “Skills,” which will allow users to automate multi-step workflows using natural language, as well as connectors based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that integrate with tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Jira, Salesforce, Slack, and Google Docs. The platform is also introducing a mobile application in public preview, enabling users to access insights and trigger actions on the go, alongside “Artifacts” that allow teams to save, share, and reuse analyses and workflows.
In parallel, Cortex Code is being expanded as an AI-powered development layer for enterprise data systems. Since its launch in November 2025, the tool has seen strong adoption, with more than half of customers reportedly using it to accelerate development and productivity. The upgraded version extends support across external data platforms such as AWS Glue, Databricks, and Postgres, while also enabling integration with other AI ecosystems through protocols like MCP and Agent Communication Protocol (ACP).
Cortex Code will also now integrate directly into developer environments, including a new VS Code extension and a Claude Code plugin in preview, allowing developers to build and manage AI workflows within their preferred tools without switching platforms.
Speaking on the updates, Baris Gultekin said AI is transforming how companies operate and emphasised that Snowflake’s approach is to make AI practical by combining data access, system connectivity, and governance in one platform.
The company said these enhancements reflect its broader ambition to centralise how organisations govern, connect, and orchestrate data, models, and applications, reinforcing its positioning as a core infrastructure layer for enterprise AI adoption.
