If you own a Zenfone 12 Ultra or the Rog Phone 9, you can apply for the Android 16 preview program. There are no specific conditions for eligibility; anyone with a compatible device can enroll in the program. Here’s how you can sign up for the beta program on both devices:
First, make sure your device is running the latest stable version. Then open the Settings app, followed by System > System Update. Click on the gear icon at the top right corner. Next, tap the ‘Enroll in Android Preview Program’ and fill out the application. You’ll be asked to sign in to your ASUS member account. Finally, submit the application.
You’ll receive an email if you’re enrolled in the beta program. After the application review, you’ll receive the Android 16 beta OTA update on your device.
Since this is an early beta build, the update may include both minor and major bugs. It’s highly recommended to back up your data before installing the beta update.
Android 16 is a major update with various changes. Google has plans to add more features in upcoming Android 16 feature drop releases, but it is up to Asus to decide which features will be made available to its users.
There is no official timeline for the stable Android 16 update release for the Rog Phone 9 or Zenfone 12 Ultra; however, it usually arrives around two months after the beta program begins.
