Professional golfers will receive winnings directly through mobile payments, reinforcing MTN Uganda’s push for secure, convenient, and inclusive digital financial services.
MTN Uganda has officially launched the MTN Pro-Tee Series, a new professional golf circuit designed to elevate the country’s golfing ecosystem and create sustainable career pathways for talented athletes.
The initiative builds on MTN’s existing Monthly and Quarterly Golf Tees, which have supported amateur golf development over the years. The new Pro-Tee Series introduces a dedicated professional competition structure aimed at increasing competitiveness, visibility, and financial incentives for Uganda’s growing pool of professional golfers.
Uganda currently has 62 professional golfers, and MTN Uganda said the new series is expected to contribute to expanding this number while strengthening the country’s professional sports landscape.
A key feature of the initiative is the integration of MTN Mobile Money into prize distribution. Professional golfers will receive winnings directly through mobile payments, reinforcing MTN Uganda’s push for secure, convenient, and inclusive digital financial services. The company said this will also support the development of a more cashless sporting ecosystem.
According to MTN Uganda, the Pro-Tee Series reflects its broader commitment to combining sports development with financial inclusion and digital innovation, enabling athletes to benefit from efficient and transparent payment systems.
The inaugural edition of the series will feature a prize purse of UGX 15 million, with plans to progressively increase rewards throughout the season.
MTN Uganda noted that the initiative is part of its continued investment in platforms that empower talent, promote opportunity, and drive digital financial adoption across the country.
