It’s been over two months since Google officially released Android 16. While many brands, including Samsung and Xiaomi, have already announced their rollout plans, some are still struggling with Android 15 updates. HMD, which owns Nokia, is one of them.
Although HMD hasn’t completed the Android 15 rollout and hasn’t shared any official information about Android 16, we can still predict which device will be eligible. Here I will list HMD phones eligible for the Android 16 update.
Android 16 is the latest major update for Android phones, which brings exciting new features and upcoming major design changes. While the update appears exciting, it’s up to smartphone brands to decide when to release it for their devices and which features will be included.
HMD, which uses a near-stock Android interface, may bring many of the same features that Pixel users have received. However, the exact timeline remains a mystery until the update is officially rolled out. With the list of Android 16 eligible HMD phones, at least you’ll have an idea whether your device will receive the Android 16 update in the future.

These are the HMD devices that are officially confirmed to receive the Android 16 update later this year or next year. Nokia-branded phones like Nokia XR21 and Nokia G42 are no longer eligible for any major updates. So, it’s only HMD phones now.
HMD doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to software updates. This has been the case for the past few years, despite having a relatively small number of eligible devices. With a limited device lineup, one would expect updates to be managed more efficiently, but HMD has failed to take advantage of this.
It’s been almost a year since the official release of Android 15, yet HMD has only managed to roll it out for a few models. Even if your device is eligible for the Android 16 update, you shouldn’t expect to receive it anytime soon.
The Material 3 Expressive redesign is the main highlight of Android 16, which will be available with the next major Android 16 feature drop. Whether HMD will bring this redesign to its devices remains uncertain. We’ll have to wait and see.
