The Ministry of Economy of Mozambique is seeking to strengthen the country’s digital economy through a potential strategic partnership with SpaceX. The initiative follows a meeting held on 24 June between Mozambique’s Minister of Economy, Basilio Muhate, and representatives of the U.S. aerospace and technology company to explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda.
During the discussions, both parties examined mechanisms to expand digital connectivity, strengthen Mozambique’s digital infrastructure and create an environment that supports investment, innovation and private sector growth. Particular attention was given to improving opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are expected to play a central role in the country’s digital economy.
The proposed collaboration forms part of the Mozambican government’s broader strategy to leverage international partnerships to accelerate technological innovation and attract investment. By improving connectivity and digital infrastructure, the government aims to enhance the country’s competitiveness and foster greater participation in the knowledge-based economy.
The Ministry of Economy said the engagement with SpaceX reflects Mozambique’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic growth, stimulate innovation and position the country as an increasingly attractive destination for digital investment and technology-driven development.
