When dummy units leaked in April, it was clear that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max would be thicker than their predecessors. But then in June a decently reliable tipster claimed that in fact they’d be the exact same 8.75mm thickness as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Except a few days later another source said that the iPhone 18 Pro would be around 2mm thicker than its predecessor.
Now the same source is back with basically the same claim, saying that we should expect an increase in thickness of around 2mm. That would take the iPhone 18 Pro over 1cm, which of course isn’t impossible, but we’re not sure Apple would like how that looks on spec sheets.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are rumored to get a variable aperture main camera, which will inevitably add some thickness, and they will also both have bigger batteries than the models from last year, and those need more space too. So it stands to reason that we might see some thicker Pros this time around – we’re just not sure how accurate the 2mm figure really is. Time will tell, for sure.
