Music streaming platform Spotify has just announced that it’s launched “Running Mode,” a new feature that can turn playlists into personalized workouts based on a user’s musical preferences and more. Available starting today, the new feature is designed to cut down time spent searching for tracks so you can focus on moving. As per Spotify’s announcement:
Sometimes the difference between a good run and a great run is the right playlist. That’s why we’re introducing Running Mode, a new personalized running experience that transforms playlists into running sessions tailored to your goals, music taste, and tempo.
Whether you’re training for a race, heading out for an easy jog, or just want a more motivating walk, Running Mode helps you spend less time hunting for the right music and more time moving.
How Does it Work?
With that in mind, Running Mode is available for Premium iOS users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. To get started, users will need to head over to Spotify’s Fitness Hub, select one of 25 curated presets, and then customize their session by picking a workout structure—such as intervals, steady pace, or pyramids—alongside your target duration, target Beats per Minute (BPM), and preferred music genres.
Once you hit play, Spotify automatically pairs music to your target tempo and handles track transitions for a continuous, uninterrupted workout soundtrack.
What Else is There?
Finally, Running Mode also introduces optional audio cues in English to offer workout structure updates and encouraging check-ins along the way. Spotify adds that it’s made to sit alongside existing fitness content on the platform, such as Peloton classes and creator workout videos. Running Mode is rolling out now for eligible subscribers.
