vivo today introduced the vivo S2 in India, marking the comeback of the S series to the Asian country after a hiatus of seven years, as vivo didn’t launch any S series smartphone in India after the vivo S1, which was launched in India in August 2019.
vivo says the S2 “has been thoughtfully crafted for young consumers who value style, creativity, intelligent experiences, and meaningful innovation,” and “with its premium design and advanced imaging capabilities, the vivo S2 delivers a well-rounded experience that complements today’s dynamic lifestyles.”
So, what exactly does that translate to in terms of specs and features? Well, for starters, the vivo S2 comes with the Dimensity 7360-Turbo SoC under the hood, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The smartphone has 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage, and it runs Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box. vivo has promised three years of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates for the S2, while also advertising 90FPS gameplay support in BGMI.
One of the headline features of the vivo S2 is its 3D curved AMOLED display, measuring 6.83″ diagonally. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,800×1,260-pixel resolution, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+ support.
The display also has a fingerprint scanner embedded for biometric authentication, and there’s a centered punch-hole for the 32MP selfie camera, capable of 4K video recording.
Around the back, you see a horizontally aligned camera island, which could remind some of Google’s Pixel flagships. It houses a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX582), a 2MP bokeh camera, and a circular ring flash called Aura Light.
Fueling the vivo S2 is a 7,050 mAh battery with bypass charging and 44W fast charging support. The rest of the vivo S2’s features include dual stereo speakers, a 3800 mm2 vapor chamber, a USB-C port, MIL-STD-810H certification, IP68 and IP69 ratings, and underwater photography support. The smartphone’s screen can also be operated with greasy and wet hands.
The vivo S2 comes in Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze, and Silk White colors, with the Silk White model being thicker (0.810 cm vs. 0.799 cm) and heavier (199g vs. 197g) than the other two versions.

Customers get two memory options – 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB, priced at INR39,999 and INR49,999, respectively. All colors and memory versions will go on sale in India starting August 11 through vivo’s Indian website, Amazon.in, Flipkart, and partner retail stores.
