Vivo, along with some other Chinese brands, offers different operating systems for users in China and globally. Users in China receive a better version of the custom OS, while users worldwide get a more subdued version. Similarly, Vivo has OriginOS exclusive to China, and users globally have access to FunTouchOS, which is not as advanced as OriginOS. However, OriginOS is finally making its way outside China.
Vivo recently announced its plans to release OriginOS 6 globally, along with its launch date. The official announcement revealed that OriginOS 6 will be launched globally at the global launch event on October 15.
As usual, Vivo will first unveil the next version of OriginOS, based on Android 16, in China on October 10. The global launch will follow on October 15.
Many smartphone brands, including Motorola, have already commenced the Android 16 rollout. However, Vivo and some other Chinese brands are lagging behind this year. Therefore, we might see Vivo launch the Android 16-based OriginOS 6 for eligible models in the coming months.
Currently, there is limited information about OriginOS 6, the next OS release for Vivo phones. However the company will unveil everything about the upcoming update at the launch event. You can expect to learn about the release date, rollout plan, and features of OriginOS 6.
Based on what circulating on the Internet, the OriginOS 6 might come with these changes and features:
- Frosted glass theme on Keypad
- New dynamic island designs
- New AI features
- Update UI across system (many elements inspired by iOS 26)
- New and improved animation
- Big clock on lockscreen with depth effect like iOS 26
These are some features of OriginOS 6 that have been leaked ahead of its official launch. While it’s confirmed that OriginOS will be released globally this year, it’s uncertain whether the version will be identical to the one in China or if Vivo will keep some features exclusive to the Chinese market.
