Audible recently announced that it’s now offering users a new and more affordable subscription tier by way of its Standard membership plan, which is designed to provide flexible and affordable access to its library. Cynthia Chu, Chief Financial & Growth Officer at Audible states:
The launch of our Standard plan reflects Audible’s ongoing commitment to serving the diverse preferences and listening habits of story-lovers everywhere. By expanding our membership options, we’re maximizing access for lighter listeners while enabling publishers and creators to reach new audiences—a win-win that grows the entire audiobook category.
Priced at $8.99 for users in the United States, the plan serves as an entry point for new listeners, offering one audiobook selection from the full Audible catalog each month along with unlimited ad-free streaming from a curated library. This curated selection includes a number of Audible Originals and around 200 popular titles previously hosted on Wondery+.
It should be noted that the existing Premium plan remains available at $14.95 per month for users who want a permanent monthly credit and full catalog access. That said, the new Standard tier is available for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, and France, with further international rollouts currently in testing.
