The Trump administration has been talking up a potential TikTok deal this weekend, with President Donald Trump telling Fox News on Sunday that Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan are “probably” going to be involved. “A man named Lachlan is involved,” Trump said. “Lachlan Murdoch … Rupert [Murdoch] is probably gonna be in the group, I think they’re going to be in the group.” The president also said that Oracle executive chairman Larry Ellison and Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell are likely to be involved. While Trump did not specify whether he was talking about personal or company investments, following…

In line with its traditions, Apple announced the new iPhone series with a new in-house chip, which is now called Apple A19 Pro. The chip powers the new iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air, which replaces the 16 Plus from a year before. Only the vanilla iPhone 17 runs on the non-Pro version of the new chipset. While we are working on the full iPhone 17 series reviews, we compiled some early benchmarks to give us an idea of the iPhone Air’s performance with the A19 Pro on board. The A19 Pro inside the Air isn’t…

Seven or eight years ago, anyone consuming business tech news might have come across the phrase “the race to build autonomous vehicles.” In private conversations, company execs and startup founders I spoke to sometimes referred to the commercialization of autonomous vehicle technology as “a race.” The phrase seeped into reporting at the time — including some of my articles. What we’ve learned is that this is not a race so much…

Travelers at major European airports including Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin faced significant delays this weekend following what Collins Aerospace described as a “cyber-related incident.” Collins Aerospace makes technology for airline check-in desks, so after the apparent cyberattack, airlines were forced to revert to manual check-ins, according to the Guardian. According to data from Flightradar24, more than 130 Heathrow flights had been delayed by 20 minutes or more as of 11am on Sunday morning, with 13 flights canceled on Saturday. Apple didn’t rename the Pro Max model to “Ultra” as some rumors suggested, but it did significantly rework the design and it upgraded a lot of the hardware too. And a lot of that is new materials. The company introduced its first stainless steel phone, the iPhone 4, way back in 2010, but switched to aluminum with the iPhone 5. These past couple of years, Cupertino experimented with titanium to try and fight the steadily increasing weight of the Pro and especially Pro Max models. The experiments are over and this year Apple is using aluminum for all models but…

The wait is over – the new iPhones went on sale this Friday. A lot of places are already running out of units, though thankfully, Amazon still has the new models in stock. We will look at some Android offers too, but we start with Apple’s new designs. The base iPhone 17 is more capable than any of its predecessors. Apple no longer locks 120Hz ProMotion behind the Pro price tag. It’s a larger 6.3” LTPO panel (up from 6.1”) with an anti-reflective coating to boot. Apple also upgraded the cameras and the battery system. Also note that the base…
