Meta has begun dismantling its $2 billion acquisition of Manus, completing an operational separation from the Chinese-founded AI startup and halting data sharing between the two companies. This is the most concrete step yet toward complying with a divestiture order Beijing issued roughly two months ago on national security grounds. Meta has cut Manus off from its internal systems, Bloomberg reported, preventing employees from using Manus tools for internal projects as the two companies move toward a full separation. Meanwhile, according to May reports, the co-founders of Manus have held preliminary discussions about raising approximately $1 billion from outside investors…

Professional services firm KPMG has pulled a report titled, “Redefining excellence in the age of agentic AI,” after numerous organizations said the report’s claims about their AI usage were untrue. Research group GPTZero identified a number of inaccuracies in the report, which was published in October 2025. GPTZero told the FT that the inaccuracies stemmed from AI hallucinations. In other words, the professional services firm appears to have used AI to help write a report about AI.  UBS, the UK’s National Health Service, Swiss Federal Railways, and Transport for London all told the FT that the report’s claims about their…

Never saw myself as a phone gamer. Just seemed like something other people did while I scrolled through news apps. But six months back, during a painfully slow Tuesday, I found virtual baccarat, and it changed my whole lunch routine. The speed got me first. We’re talking 90 seconds per round, sometimes faster. I’ve squeezed in several hands while waiting for my Keurig or sitting in my car before a dreaded 3 pm call. I’ve actually learned way more about probability from these sessions than from that statistics course I took junior year. How Virtual Card Games Actually Work After…

This week saw the annual WWDC from Apple. The week before, it was Google I/O – both are software-focused events, so there wasn’t any new hardware. So, we turn to older models instead. The Samsung Galaxy S26+ is not going to win any popularity contests, but it’s a solid middle-of-the-road smartphone that offers a good balance of features, support and price. Right now, the 512GB model is down to $900 – that’s the same price as the 256GB version, but note that only the Black units have such a deep cut. The Cobalt Violet is the second best at $1,020,…

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy may have been the source of security concerns that led Anthropic to cut off worldwide access to two models on Friday. The Wall Street Journal reports that Jassy told Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other government officials that Amazon researchers used Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 to obtain information that could be used in cyberattacks. The government subsequently imposed an export control ban on the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models. An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement that while it’s “not uncommon for governments to seek our counsel on potential security risks,” the company does not…

Samsung’s Galaxy-branded smartphones and tablets have been lacking a feature that many other Android devices, especially from Chinese brands, had for years. We are talking about the real-time network speed indicator displayed in the status bar, now available for Galaxy users via the QuickStar module in Samsung’s Good Lock customization app. Samsung users could get a real-time network speed indicator on their Galaxy phone, but it required a third-party app or enabling a firmware flag if the device was rooted. But that’s not needed now if your device is running the Android 17-based One UI 9, which is currently only…

TechCrunch has reached out to OpenAI and the New York attorney general’s office for confirmation. A company spokesperson told the WSJ that OpenAI is cooperating with the investigation. “AI is a new and…

I’ve been tracking mobile gaming habits for 18 months, and what I discovered genuinely surprised me. We’re witnessing something different from standard puzzle game trends or battle royale explosions. Speed matters more than ever. Not the fake kind where developers make you wait 6 hours for energy bars to refill or force you through 45-minute competitive matches you can’t pause when your boss walks by. I’m talking about games wrapping up in under 90 seconds where every decision happens right now. Games like chicken road gained traction specifically because they match what players actually want—make your call, watch the outcome…
