Enterprises and startups that use Anthropic Claude through Microsoft and Google products need not fear that the model will be ripped from their reach, Microsoft and Google confirmed to TechCrunch. AWS customers and partners can also reportedly continue to use Claude for their non-defense associated workloads. Microsoft was the first big tech company to offer assurance that Anthropic’s models will remain available to its customers even though the Trump administration’s Department of War — formally known as the Department of Defense — has escalated its feud with Anthropic. The Defense Department officially designated the American AI startup as a supply-chain…
It was MWC week, but the newly unveiled devices will not be available for a while – certainly not this weekend, anyway. What is available now is the Galaxy S26 series. Also, Apple launched several new devices this week, which can be pre-ordered now (and will be available from March 11). We published our Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review a couple of days ago. While it’s not the most exciting upgrade, it does bring meaningful improvements. Right now, the Privacy Display is unique in its capabilities and the upgraded charging had a significant impact on charge times. The S26 Ultra…
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has opened an investigation into the death of a worker at a Rivian warehouse in Illinois this week, the federal agency told TechCrunch on Friday. The agency said the probe could take up to six months. The man, identified by local authorities as 61-year-old Kevin Lancaster, reportedly died from “blunt traumatic compressional injuries” after getting pinned between a tractor trailer and a loading dock at the facility, which is located just a few miles from Rivian’s factory. Lancaster was reportedly trapped in that spot for around 20 minutes on Thursday before firefighters were able…
Apple can be quite frustrating – at first glance, the iPhone 17e barely seems to upgrade anything at all. But the more you look at its spec sheet, the more you start to think “this might actually be worth it.” Do you agree? First, let’s go over the upgrades – this will be short. The new phone features an Apple A19 chipset, bringing a ton of performance for what is technically a mid-ranger. It also uses the improved Apple C1X modem, which is up to twice as fast as 16e’s C1. Apple iPhone 17e The…

While Washington’s breakup with Anthropic exposed the complete lack of any coherent rules governing artificial intelligence, a bipartisan coalition of thinkers has assembled something the government has so far declined to produce: a framework for what responsible AI development should actually look like. The Pro-Human Declaration was finalized before last week’s Pentagon-Anthropic standoff, but the collision of the two events wasn’t lost on anyone involved. “There’s something quite remarkable that has happened in America just in the last four months,” said Max Tegmark, the MIT physicist and AI researcher who helped organize the effort, in conversation with this editor. “Polling…
Wow! We had to start this unboxing with an exclamation, because the Infinix Note 60 Ultra truly deserves it. There are so many phones named Ultra on the market nowadays, but very few among them justify the name quite like the Infinix Note 60 Ultra. Pininfarina is a big part of that. The Italian design firm popular for designing cars has been at it for nearly a century now, and it clearly isn’t losing its touch. Something about this Torino Black Infinix Note 60 Ultra makes you stop and take notice! It all starts with the exorbitant unboxing experience. The…
A push by a coalition of telecom operators, device makers, and industry groups to bring $40 smartphones to market — a price point seen as key to getting tens of millions more people online — is gathering momentum, but questions remain over whether manufacturers can produce such ultra-low-cost devices at scale. This week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the advocacy and lobbying group GSMA said it is working with major African mobile operators — including Airtel, Axian Telecom, Ethio Telecom, MTN Group, Orange, and Vodafone — and smartphone makers to pilot ultra-low-cost 4G devices in six African markets: the…
The Galaxy S25 series outsold the S24 series, which in turn had outpaced the S23 series a year prior. In short, everything was going great for the S-series. But will this year end its winning streak? Last week’s poll certainly casts shadows of doubt over the success of the new trio. The Samsung Galaxy S26 family Let’s start with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is arguably the model that received the most upgrades. Most of the people who voted in the poll just don’t see it as one of the best flagships on the market. And…
Life Electric Vehicles Holdings, also known as Life EV, officially owns the intellectual property, inventory, and certain operating assets of Rad Power Bikes. Life EV acquired Rad Power for $13.2 million. Rad Power Bikes, a buzzy electric bike company that raised nearly $330 million in venture capital, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December. The company had struggled for months prior to its bankruptcy filing, and had warned employees it might have to shut down without new capital. Life EV intends to keep the company intact and said it will continue retail operations under the Rad Power Bikes brand…
