Last month, we used a Realme GT8 Pro prototype to run early benchmarks of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Five of these systems will be hosted by Argonne National Laboratory, and two will be hosted by Los Alamos National Laboratory. Google Maps is developing a power saving mode for navigation that reduces battery consumption by simplifying the interface into a minimalist monochrome display. According to an APK teardown by Android Authority, users will still see essential navigation details like the next turn, estimated time of arrival, and distance remaining, but with significantly less visual clutter draining power.
