At a time of high anxiety around technology’s impact on arts and culture, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ Collider Fellowship is focused on new opportunities, welcoming multi-disciplinary artists to explore how emerging tech can transform live performance and the performing arts. Today, the famed New York performing arts center is announcing its second class of Collider Fellows — a group of six artists working in areas from virtual reality to artificial intelligence to the immersive 4DSound System. “I love that they’re all really thoughtful people who are not just thinking about [the work] itself, but how it fits into…
Last week, we asked you which (if any) of the new iPhones you would buy. We are now looking at the results and, unsurprisingly, the vanilla model is eating into the small Pro’s market share, while the big Pro Max is the most popular. The Apple iPhone 17 may be the big winner this generation, at least in terms of improvement over its predecessor. With a number of significant upgrades and staying at the same price as last year, many will flock to this model – including people that in previous years would have gone with a Pro. The vanilla…
Large tech companies have responded to President Donald Trump’s dramatic changes to H-1B visa applications by telling employees with those visas to remain in the United States, according to multiple media reports. The White House announced Friday that Trump had signed a proclamation requiring employers to pay a $100,000 fee for H-1B visa applications. In response, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft reportedly emailed their employees telling those with H-1B visas to stay in the United States and avoid foreign travel for now — and if they’re already traveling, to try to return before the proclamation takes effect at 12:01am Eastern on…
The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 is now at the office, and we are working on a full review. This is Huawei’s top-tier smartwatch for “Dynamic Explorers,” as the company refers to its target customers, and offers unrivaled durability in the smartwatch segment. The watch offers a premium and robust build with a body made of zirconium-based liquid metal, marketed to be 8.7x more corrosion resistant and also stronger and harder than standard aluminum smartwatches. The bezel is made of nanocrystal ceramic and so is the back, which makes it skin-friendly and hypoallergenic. And as for the display, it’s of course…
Trump hits H-1B visas with $100,000 fee, targeting the program that launched Elon Musk and Instagram
President Trump just made it a lot more expensive for companies to hire foreign workers through the H-1B program. The White House announced Friday that Trump signed a proclamation requiring employers to pay a hefty $100,000 fee for new H-1B visa applications, an enormous jump from the current $215 lottery registration fee. H-1B visas allow U.S. companies to hire foreign workers in fields that typically require technical expertise like IT, engineering, mathematics, or medicine. The program is capped at 65,000 new visas annually, plus an additional 20,000 for foreign graduates with advanced degrees from U.S. universities. The visas are awarded…

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared on Fox News today and said that an agreement has been reached — but not signed — that would see TikTok’s U.S. operations spun out under majority American ownership. Leavitt said Americans will hold six of seven board seats in the restructured TikTok, and the short-form video app’s algorithm will be U.S.-controlled, according to Bloomberg. “So all of those details have already been agreed upon, now we just need this deal to be signed and that will be happening, I anticipate, in the coming days,” Leavitt said. Bloomberg also reports that a senior…
Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days are coming back on October 7 and it will be a two-day event. We are still a couple of weeks out from that, but the retailer is building up hype with some early deals – even better, these don’t require a Prime subscription. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may have launched first, but is it better than the iPhone Air? You can check out our comparison for a more detailed breakdown. It’s important to note that the iPhone starts at $1,000 for the 256GB model, which is currently $300 more than its Galaxy opponent. And…
