Not too long ago, Google announced that it was bringing over a dedicated Meetings section for Google Chat users, which is designed to centralize meeting-related conversations. The update will allow users to group all past and future meeting chats into a single, persistent home, ensuring that follow-ups and shared details remain easily accessible long after a call has concluded.
Previously, these discussions were housed within the Direct Messages list, which often made it difficult for users to locate specific project notes or past meeting threads. The new feature functions as a smart folder located between Direct Messages and Spaces, and automatically aggregates continuous meeting conversations; it will remain optional of course, and users can disable the feature as well.

With that said, the Meetings section can be reordered, moved, or deleted at any time to fit individual workflows. Users can also move individual meeting threads into other custom sections they have created. Google says that the feature is disabled by default and can be manually enabled by going to the three-dot overflow menu on any section of their conversation list and select the option to create a meeting section.
The Meetings section is rolling out to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
