A while back, Google revealed that it was working on “Ask Photos”, an AI-powered search feature which lets users find specific images within their Google Photos library by using natural language prompts. With that in mind though, it looks like the company is aware that not all users are keen on using Ask Photos to search for their pictures.
Posting on her official social media page, Google’s General Manager for Google Photos Shimrit Ben-Yair mentioned that users will now get a toggle to disable the Ask Photos feature. She states:
We’ve heard your feedback that you want more control over the type of results you see when searching in Google Photos. To address this, we’re starting to roll out a new experience that puts you in the driver’s seat, letting you choose between fast classic search and intelligent Ask Photos results. We’ll lead with the results that best fit your query, but you always have the control to switch views to help you find exactly what you need.
Ben-Yair adds that the Google Photos team has been working on improving quality for popular searches based on user feedback.
