OnePlus is ramping up its Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 testing phase and has officially released the Open Beta for six devices, including the OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and OnePlus Open.
While many Android brands have already released the Android 16 update for their devices, OnePlus has been a bit late this time. However, with the OxygenOS 16 Open Beta now live, the stable update is expected to be released soon.
The open beta program for the mentioned six models has been launched in India. It may also be available in other regions, but it’s not certain. If the OxygenOS 16 beta isn’t available in your region, you’ll have to wait for the stable build.
How to Apply for OxygenOS 16 Open Beta
If you own any device from OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and OnePlus Open in India, you can participate in the beta program to test the Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 early. The application period ends on October 13th.
To apply for the OOS 16 Open Beta, first make sure your device is running the latest version. Then navigate to Settings > About Device > Up to Date > tap three dots > Beta program. Follow the on-screen instructions and submit the application with accurate details.
If your application is approved, OnePlus will push an OTA update that you can download from Settings > About Device > Download Now.
Since this is an early build, it may not include all the features that will be released in the stable update, as confirmed by OnePlus. However, in terms of performance, it will be close to stable. There may be some bugs, but open beta generally doesn’t have major bugs. However, you should always be cautious when trying out a beta update.
Make sure to back up important data and charge the device to at least 50% before installing the update.
OxygenOS 16, as per leaks, appears to be an exciting update with various new features according to leaks. You can expect major changes along with performance improvements. OnePlus has officially confirmed that the OxygenOS 16 will be launched on October 16.
