Perplexity announced Perplexity Health, a feature that’s specifically designed to answer medical questions in the most medically accurate and evidence-based way possible. The feature aggregates health data from different apps, devices and platforms. The AI assistant then tracks metrics and trends over time. With all that information, Perplexity Health is supposed to provide reliable personalized health information to the user.
One of the health services that Perplexity uses is Apple’s Health platform. The so-called Perplexity Computer, which is the company’s AI agent tool, can build personalized fitness plans, nutrition plans and more. Perplexity Health is rolling out to Pro and Max users in the US first.
Integration with other health services, including Oura and Function, is expected in the near future. But for now, it draws data only from Apple Health, Fitbit, Ultrahuman and Withings.
Since health is a very sensitive topic, Perplexity has gone to great lengths to ensure its AI bot will give accurate and relevant information to users. The bot has been trained on electronic health records by more than 1.7 million care providers, premium medical literature, clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. The company has also assembled a Perplexity Health Advisory Board with physicians, researchers and health tech experts. They monitor Perplexity Health’s decisions, content quality and whether the clinical safeguards are in place.
Perplexity’s announcement comes shortly after partnering with Samsung and integrating its agentic AI into the Galaxy AI ecosystem.
