The ultra slim version of the Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 Edge, is now receiving its first major update, One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. The update is currently rolling out in Korea and may soon be available in more regions.
In case you missed it, the Galaxy S25 series also received the update today. Samsung kicked off its stable One UI 8 campaign today, starting with the Galaxy S25 devices and Galaxy S25 Edge.
The stable One UI 8 update for Galaxy S25 Edge is available with build version BYI3. This is a big update and weighs over 3GB, so make sure to download the update over WiFi. The update carries the September Android security patch.
The One UI 8 update brings various new features and improvements to the Galaxy S25 Edge. While the changelog for the update is not yet available, it will be similar to the changelog for the beta version. This update includes improved quick share, redesigned Samsung Internet browser, new reminder interface, new preset routines, quick camera controls, enhanced weather app, Adaptive lock screen clock and more. You can read the full changelog here.
If you’re a Galaxy S25 Edge user in Korea, you’ll soon receive the OTA update if you haven’t already. Users in other regions can also expect the update soon. However, since this is a staged rollout like any other Android update, it may take a few days or weeks to roll out to all users.
First, make sure your device is running the latest One UI 7 build. Then, check for the update by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Once the One UI 8 update is available, you can download and install it. Make sure to back up your data before installing the update.
