Following the launch of lossless audio support for Premium subscribers, Spotify more recently announced that it’s rolling out a series of major updates to its free service, giving listeners a bit more control and personalized ways to discover and share their favorite songs. As per an official statement from Spotify:
Today, we’re sharing ways the Free experience, where the majority of users start their Spotify journeys, is getting even better. We’re rolling out updates globally, making it easier (and more fun) than ever to listen, connect, and share music for free.

Perhaps the biggest change is that users can now play any song on demand by searching for a specific track, which was previously unavailable with Spotify’s free-tier service. The new update also makes it easier to create and personalize playlists, and Spotify will offer song recommendations as you build your own list, with support for custom playlist covers.
The free service will also include personalized playlists like Discover Weekly and Release Radar, along with support for real-time lyrics.
