A couple of years ago, Spotify announced that it was adding support for music video playback on the app, in a bid to add a bit more immersion to users’ listening experiences. That in mind, the platform is now introducing new video controls, which give users the option of focusing more on their music, at least sonically.
Starting today, Family Plan managers can now turn off video content for other plan members via their subscription settings; previously, the option was limited for users under 13 years of age, although the new update does extend this to all members under a Family plan as well. The new change rolls out globally starting today.
Additionally, Spotify says that it will bring over new settings to Premium and Basic subscribers (including Individual, Duo, Family, and Student plans), allowing them to control how videos appear on their app. It should be noted that this upcoming update will arrive later within this month.

Users can access video controls via the Spotify app > Settings > Content and display, where they can then choose to switch on (or off) Canvas looping visuals or videos for music or podcasts. The changes will apply to all devices where they use the platform; Spotify does clarify that ads will continue to play where applicable.
