Spotify is introducing new video controls, which basically let you fully switch off video content in the app. This will start rolling out globally later this month and will apply to all accounts, including free ones.
You’ll be able to go to Settings > Content and display where you will find options to switch off Canvas looping visuals, as well as videos for music or podcasts. Once you have chosen a new preference, it will be remembered across mobile, desktop, web, TV – wherever you use Spotify.
You’ll still get video ads if you’re on the free plan, and Canvas-like visuals on some audio ads, however. Spotify says it’s making it easier to fully turn off video content because people love choices, but the truth is that a lot of people felt like the video push was unnecessary. Regardless, an easier way to get rid of the video content in Spotify is now coming.
