Meta recently announced that it was bringing over new features for WhatsApp, which focuses on adding a bit more to group messaging experiences from casual family chats to larger community organizations.
One big addition are “Member Tags” which allow users to set a customizable tag for themselves within individual group chats to clarify their role or relationship to others. This should come in handy in large groups where members may not all know each other personally, allowing someone to label themselves as “Team Captain” in a sports group or “Sarah’s Mom” in a school chat.
WhatsApp is also launching Text Stickers, which lets users transform any word into a visual sticker simply by typing it into the Sticker Search bar. Stickers can also be saved directly to a user’s sticker pack without needing to be sent in a message first.
Finally, the update also comes with enhanced Event Reminders—when a user creates an event within a chat, they can now set custom notifications for all invitees. These reminders make sure that everyone stays informed about upcoming meetings, parties, or calls, helping groups stay on schedule regardless of the event type.
We can expect the new updates to roll out gradually within the following weeks and months.
