To change their Gmail address, users will need to log into their Gmail account and navigate to the “Personal info” section to see if the “Change Google Account email” option is available. Users can then enter a unique, available username and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the change. Once the process is complete, the new address will become the primary login for a user’s account while the old address will be retained as an alternate email, although you can revert to the original address at any time if needed.
Google does state that there might be potential complications such as issues with Chromebook settings, “Sign in with Google” configurations on third-party sites, and Chrome Remote Desktop connections; it also suggests backing up one’s data, contacts, and photos beforehand as some app settings may reset. Additionally, users will be able to change their Google account username once every 12 months, unless they go back to their previous username.
