Google recently announced that it was rolling out a new update to its Google Play Games profiles system, which will make it easier for Android users to manage their gaming activity. The update is scheduled to arrive on September 23, 2025 (October 1 in the EEA and UK), and will integrate the gamer profile directly into the Google Play Store, making it a central hub for all gaming-related features.

That being said, the updated profile system will keep existing features like achievements and cross-device progress tracking, while adding new capabilities to enhance the gaming experience. It will also include support for expanded profile stats which allow users to showcase and track game progress and statistics, new ways to connect with other players, including a “follow” feature and public profiles, as well as expanded profile customization.
Google adds that it will be changing how it handles gaming data, such as collecting information about the games that users have installed and played. Furthermore, Google says that it may also receive specific in-game data such as achievements and leaderboard rankings from participating developers. Users will also have a one-time option to import their past gaming activity from their Google Account, which will provide a more complete history on the new profile.

Despite these changes, the company promises users that they will remain in control of their respective data and profiles, including the ability to delete their entire Play Games profile and all associated data, manage profile visibility (current settings will be used by default), as well as reviewing and deleting gaming activity saved to Google Accounts.
