YouTube recently announced that its dedicated TV platform is shaking things up with the introduction of new specialized plans, which are designed to give viewers more control over their monthly subscriptions. Over the next several weeks, customers will be able to choose from a variety of bundles focused on Sports, News, Entertainment, and Family content, all of which are priced lower than the standard package.
This allows users to pay only for the genres they actually watch while maintaining core YouTube TV features like unlimited DVR, multiview, and the ability to share an account with up to six household members. The new lineup includes a Sports Plan for $64.99 per month, which features major broadcasters and the full ESPN suite, as well as a Sports + News Plan for $71.99 per month that adds national news networks like CNN and Fox News.
For lifestyle and cinema content, the Entertainment Plan is available for $54.99 per month, and comes with channels like Comedy Central, Bravo, and Paramount. Families can also opt for a $69.99 per month bundle that combines News and Entertainment with kid-friendly networks like Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Some of the new tiers also feature discounted introductory rates for new users during their first few months.
While the main YouTube TV plan remains the most “complete” option at $82.99 per month with over 100 channels, these new alternatives do give users much cheaper alternatives. Subscribers can further customize their experience by purchasing add-ons such as NFL Sunday Ticket, Max, or 4K Plus.
