The Huawei Nova 11 Pro is a solid mid-range phone, but it shipped without Google Play. US sanctions cut off Huawei’s access to Google services back in 2019, so adding Huawei Nova 11 Pro Google Play support takes a little extra work. The good news is it’s not complicated, and you can have it running in about 20 minutes.
This guide works for the global variant of the Nova 11 Pro running EMUI 14.2 or newer. Check your version under Settings > About phone. Chinese models run HarmonyOS and won’t work with this method.
Before you start:
- Go to Settings > Security > More settings and enable “Install apps from external sources” for AppGallery
- Back up your data, just in case
What you’ll need to install
We’re using two apps: microG Services and Aurora Store. MicroG acts as a stand-in for Google Play Services, and Aurora Store gives you access to the Play Store’s full app catalog.
Step 1: Install microG
- Open AppGallery and search for “microG Services”
- Tap Install. This will also download “microG Companion” at the same time
- Wait for both to finish installing
- Go to Settings > Apps > Apps
- Search for “microG Services” and tap on it
- Tap Permissions and grant everything it asks for, including Location, Storage, and Phone access
- Go back, find “microG Companion,” and grant it all the same permissions
Step 2: Sign in to your Google account
- Open microG Services from your app drawer (it may not show on your home screen)
- Tap the gear icon in the top right corner
- Select “Google device registration” and toggle it on
- Tap “Add Google account,” then tap “Sign in” and enter your credentials
Keep in mind you’re signing into Google through a third-party app. MicroG is open-source and widely trusted in the Android community, but if that makes you uncomfortable, this method won’t work for you.
Step 3: Install Aurora Store
- Go back to AppGallery and search for “Aurora Store”
- Download and install it
- Open Aurora Store and select “Session Installer” when prompted
- Tap “Activate” for play.google.com
- Grant Aurora Store permission to install apps
- Sign in with your Google account or choose anonymous login
Step 4: Test it
Download a Google app like Gmail or Maps to confirm everything is working. If apps aren’t behaving correctly, restart your Nova 11 Pro and double-check that microG has all its permissions. For Aurora Store issues, go to Settings > Apps > Aurora Store > Permissions and make sure everything is enabled.
What works and what doesn’t
Most Google apps run fine with this setup. Maps, YouTube, Gmail, and Chrome all work without issues. One thing worth knowing: Google Pay won’t work. It relies on security checks that require official Google services, so that one’s off the table.
If you own a different Huawei device, we have a guide for the Nova 11 and a separate one for the Huawei P60 Pro that follow the same steps. For older Huawei phones that don’t support EMUI 14.2, the Googlefier method is worth looking into instead.
Installing Huawei Nova 11 Pro Google Play support is one of the more straightforward workarounds out there right now, considering how locked down some older Huawei devices can be.
