Google has rolled out the Android 17 Beta 3 update for eligible Pixel devices, including Pixel 6 and newer models. The latest beta introduces several changes while also fixing multiple bugs. With this release, Android 17 has officially reached platform stability, indicating that the final stable rollout is just around the corner.
The Android 17 Beta 3 comes with build number CP21.260306.017 and includes the March Android security patch. This aligns with Google’s planned timeline, as the update reaches platform stability in March, with the official stable release expected to follow in April.
Android 17 Beta 3 introduces some interesting features, including floating app bubbles that let you open any app in a movable bubble, similar to chat heads. This makes multitasking easier, allowing you to quickly switch between apps with just a tap. Another notable addition is the option to hide app labels on the home screen for a cleaner and more minimal look.
Android 17 Beta 3 has redesigned the native Screen Recording UI for an improved recording experience. The final recording output automatically removes the floating tool.
The Beta update finally brings a separate tile for Mobile data, which was earlier located within the WiFi tile in quick settings. This will allow you to quickly enable mobile data without going through the double process.
The update also introduces the ability to choose dark mode for specific apps instead of applying the same theme to all apps. Furthermore, the Assistant volume can be adjusted separately from the Media volume, which was previously combined. This volume toggle will appear when you trigger the assistant or can be found in Settings.
There are also a few minor changes and new features for developers. If you’ve opted for the Android beta program, you can install the latest Android 17 Beta 3 on your eligible Pixel device. If you haven’t, you can wait for the official release, which is expected to arrive sooner.
If you notice any additional changes, do let us know in the comments. Don’t forget to back up your device before installing the beta update.
