Music streaming platform Spotify recently announced that it’s adding a new social feature to the app by way of “Track Reactions,” which allows users to react to songs within collaborative playlists, using emojis. According to Spotify, the new feature is designed to make shared playlists more interactive, and lets collaborators express their thoughts on song choices.
With that in mind, the feature works directly within collaborative playlists—users can tap a reaction button next to any track to open a sheet, select an emoji, and instantly display it alongside the song. It should be noted though that the reactions are exclusive to the playlist owner and invited contributors, and users who are connected via Spotify messaging can opt to receive direct notifications whenever a collaborator reacts to a song they added to the playlist.
Additionally, playlist owners will retain full administrative control over the new feature. While Track Reactions are enabled by default on all eligible collaborative playlists, creators can toggle the feature on or off at any time through their playlist settings. Spotify has confirmed that Track Reactions will roll out globally over the coming weeks in select markets for users with updated versions of the app.
