Along with its 500 million monthly active user milestone, social media platform Threads recently announced that it’s now moving its “communities” feature out of beta, and will be introducing a suite of new tools designed to give users more control over their feeds.
According to parent company Meta, Threads will now feature its dedicated Communities Hub directly into the main menu, alongside a Community Progress tracker which allows users to see when a trending topic is nearing official community status. Threads will also expand its Community Champions recognition program, in addition to native-language tags in regions like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
Looking ahead, the company also confirmed that Live Chats will expand to more communities in the coming weeks, with co-hosting capabilities and a new tool to highlight chat moments directly to the main feed.
Threads will also give users a new way to further customize their main content feed with “Your Algo,” which will allow users to temporarily adjust their feed preferences by requesting more or less of specific topics for durations of one, three, or seven days. It will begin rolling out today for users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
