Ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, a new supply chain report has revealed the company’s planned production volumes for its upcoming Galaxy Z foldable smartphones.
The report, citing industry sources, claims that Samsung has set a higher production target for the wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold8 than the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8.
According to the report, Samsung has asked its suppliers to produce around 2.8 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold8. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is said to have a production target of roughly 2 million units, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to see production of around 1.5 million units.
The higher production target suggests Samsung is expecting strong demand for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide. The wide-screen foldable, which is rumored to come with a 4:3 aspect ratio, will compete with Apple’s upcoming iPhone Ultra, which is rumored to launch in September.
Samsung’s wide Galaxy Z Fold8 is pretty much confirmed to come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset.
Meanwhile, rumors suggest that the foldable will sport a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. It is said to offer a 4,800mAh battery and a dual-rear camera setup.
