SMART Zambia said the initiative forms part of its broader mission to build digital capacity across government institutions and advance Zambia”s digital transformation agenda by equipping public servants with the skills needed to deliver smarter, faster and more secure public services.
SMART Zambia ‘s e-Government Division has trained 146 public officers across three districts in Southern Province as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen digital skills and improve public service delivery through enhanced ICT capacity.
The training was conducted by the SMART Zambia Southern Provincial ICT Unit for officers serving in the District Commissioner administrations of Gwembe, Mazabuka and Siavonga. A total of 40 officers were trained in Gwembe, 46 in Mazabuka and 60 in Siavonga.
Participants received comprehensive training in digital literacy, cybersecurity, Microsoft Outlook and data protection. The programme was designed to equip government officers with the knowledge and practical skills required to deliver secure, efficient and technology-enabled public services.
During the sessions, Principal ICT Officer Joyce Mushiko underscored the growing importance of digital competencies in the public sector, noting that digital proficiency has become essential for effective service delivery in an increasingly technology-driven environment.
The training also covered the use of e-government platforms, data management, cybersecurity awareness and professional email communication, helping officers strengthen their ability to support digital government initiatives and improve interactions with citizens.
