WhatsApp users are in for a treat—the messaging platform recently announced that it’s bringing a ton of new updates for general usability, including support for iPad features, PDF compatibility, and more. Part of the company’s announcement reads:
Your most important conversations don’t just live on your phone anymore. You’re catching up with friends from the couch on your iPad, checking in with family on the drive home, and switching between many different apps to manage your work and day.
That’s why we’ve been working with partners to make WhatsApp fit seamlessly with the other apps you use and across your devices, so that WhatsApp can keep up with how you actually live.
With that in mind, the update now allows iPad users to create a new account directly on the app without needing to link to a primary smartphone, which turns out was one of the most requested features since the iPad app’s launch last year. Desktop and web users can now preview and make quick edits to PDFs directly within chats, which works via a new integration with Adobe Acrobat.
For on-the-go connectivity, WhatsApp is also bringing a revamped audio experience for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and users can now access call histories, reach favorite contacts, and send or receive messages hands-free directly through their vehicle’s display.
Finally, users can now post music directly to their WhatsApp Status from Spotify and Apple Music, allowing them to share their favorite tracks instantly.
