Launched as a free digital space for youth, the app enables users to access educational resources, connect with peers, discover career and development opportunities, and contribute to shaping cooperation between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU).
The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App has marked its first anniversary by reaching more than 6,000 active users across 122 countries, highlighting growing engagement among young people in Africa and Europe through a platform designed to support learning, networking, and access to opportunities.
Launched as a free digital space for youth, the app enables users to access educational resources, connect with peers, discover career and development opportunities, and contribute to shaping cooperation between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU).
Over the past year, the platform has recorded several milestones, including the participation of 8,400 young people in its co-creation and continuous improvement process. Users also completed 1,417 learning courses, earning certificates upon completion, while 270 opportunities were posted through the app’s Opportunity Desk. The platform achieved an 86.3% user satisfaction rate, reflecting positive feedback from its growing community.
To encourage wider adoption, the initiative also hosted 15 virtual demonstration sessions, attracting 335 young people interested in exploring the platform’s features and available opportunities.
The developers said the app has continued to evolve based on ongoing user feedback, with new features and improvements introduced to ensure the platform remains relevant to the needs of young people across both continents.
One user, Ibukun-Seven, described the Opportunity Desk as a valuable feature that provides access to meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth. The user also highlighted the app’s badge system, noting that earning badges and tracking completed lessons helps maintain motivation to continue learning.
Another user, Fayemiwo Olawale, said the platform had enabled active participation in discussions on multilateralism and prosperity across Africa and Europe through webinars and learning sessions, providing an avenue to contribute to the broader youth ecosystem.
Looking ahead, the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App said it will continue expanding its educational content, networking spaces, and opportunity listings while maintaining its collaborative approach of developing the platform with direct input from young people. The initiative says this community-driven model will continue to guide future updates as it seeks to strengthen youth engagement and cooperation between Africa and Europe.
