Instagram finally added a feature users have been requesting forever. The new Watch History tool lets you revisit any Reel you’ve watched in the past 30 days, even if you didn’t save or like it. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the rollout, addressing one of the platform’s most frustrating limitations: losing track of funny, useful, or viral videos you watched but couldn’t relocate.
The feature lives in Profile > Settings > Your Activity > Watch History, displaying all recently viewed Reels in an organized grid. You can filter by date, sort from newest to oldest, and even search by specific creator. Additionally, Instagram lets you delete individual Reels from your history if needed.
The 30-day window is shorter than TikTok’s six-month tracking, but it’s still a massive improvement over having no history at all. Before this, users had to download their entire activity log or rely on likes and saves to track content, both clunky workarounds that nobody enjoyed.
For Instagram Reels users who’ve dealt with the platform’s evolving feature set, Watch History streamlines the experience significantly. You no longer need to manually save every interesting video “just in case.” This is particularly helpful for recipes, tutorials, product recommendations, or viral moments you want to share with friends later.
The update also positions Instagram competitively against TikTok and YouTube, both of which have offered watch history for years. Meta clearly recognizes that Reels have become central to Instagram’s strategy, and making content easier to rediscover keeps users engaged longer.
Watch History is rolling out now, so check your settings if you don’t see it yet.
