It seems like Nintendo’s been dropping surprise announcements left and right lately. Following a rather pleasant update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the company more recently announced the launch of the Nintendo Store app, which is now available for mobile devices via the Google Play Store.
With that in mind, the app will require users to log in. Once aboard, users will be able to discover games for the Nintendo Switch console family, browse products including consoles, merchandise and Amiibo figurines, view their play times, and add games to their wish list. One big caveat however is that despite the “Store” branding, you can’t actually make purchases via the app, and will still need to do so via the eShop on web or on your Nintendo console.
Another interesting feature is that users can link their older Nintendo Network ID to the app, which will let them view their play times on older systems like the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Nintendo Store was first available in Japan years ago as the “My Nintendo” app, and only made its way to global audiences recently. You can download the app here.
