If you’ve ever wished for a cleaner Pixel home screen without that persistent At a Glance widget staring back at you, your prayers might finally be answered. According to Android Authority, Google is reportedly working on a feature that will let you hide the widget entirely from your home screen, giving you more control over how your Pixel looks.
Right now, the At a Glance widget shows helpful information like weather forecasts, calendar events, and flight details. However, it cannot be fully removed from the home screen. You can disable some of its features, but the widget itself stays put. That’s changing soon, based on what’s been discovered in the latest Android Canary build.

A new toggle called “Show on home screen” has appeared in the At a Glance settings. This suggests users will soon be able to hide the widget from their home screen while keeping it active on the lock screen if they want. The best part? You don’t lose access to useful updates. The widget can still display information on your lock screen, so you’re not sacrificing functionality for aesthetics.
This change addresses a long-standing frustration for Pixel owners who want more flexibility. Previously, users had to resort to third-party launchers just to hide the At a Glance widget. Now, Google is building that option directly into the Pixel Launcher, making customization much simpler.
However, the toggle isn’t functional yet in current builds. Google is still developing this feature internally, and no official release date has been announced. That said, inclusion in upcoming Pixel updates seems likely, possibly arriving with future Feature Drops. For now, Pixel users will need to wait a bit longer before they can truly declutter their home screens.
