The fintech said the milestone marks the beginning of a new growth phase focused on extending financial inclusion beyond Zambia.
Lupiya, one of Zambia’s leading digital lending companies, has announced plans to expand across Africa as it celebrates its 10th anniversary, with a commitment to disburse an additional K500 million in loans over the next decade.
The fintech said the milestone marks the beginning of a new growth phase focused on extending financial inclusion beyond Zambia. Over the next 10 years, the company aims to establish a stronger presence across East and Southern Africa before expanding into additional markets across the continent.
Founded with an initial capital of K6,000, Lupiya has grown into a leading digital lender, providing more than K500 million in loans to over 120,000 customers. The company now operates across all 10 provinces of Zambia and has expanded into two other African countries.
As part of its next phase of growth, Lupiya plans to inject another K500 million into businesses and communities, targeting small businesses, farmers, traders and women entrepreneurs. The company said the funding is intended to support enterprise growth, create employment opportunities and improve access to finance rather than serve as charitable assistance.
Lupiya also called for stronger collaboration with banks, mobile network operators, technology companies, investors and regulators, noting that partnerships will play a critical role in accelerating financial inclusion and supporting its pan-African expansion strategy.
The company said its anniversary reflects a decade of advancing digital lending and financial inclusion in Zambia while setting the stage for broader regional growth aimed at delivering accessible financial services to underserved communities across Africa.
