Facebook parent company Meta today announced the official rollout of Muse Image, a new image generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. Available directly within Meta AI, the new model lets users create images by using prompts, which they can then download or share.
Meta says that Muse Image builds on the foundation of Muse Spark, which also allows users to “co-create” with the assistant by using presets, using @ mentions to insert personal photos into creations, and sketching edits directly onto images. One crucial bit of info to take into consideration though is that the model gives users sample “inspiration” images which it takes from other users’ public Instagram content.
While the feature can be turned off, it is enabled by default and users are not notified if their content is reused by AI. As per Instagram’s official support page:
You’ll receive a notification if a public account reuses your content for remixes, sequences, stickers, templates. You will not be notified about content created using AI features at Meta.
Meta adds that it plans to expand Muse Image to Facebook, Messenger, and its Advantage+ creative platform for advertisers in the near future.
