The discussions focused on the macroeconomic outlook across MTN”s key markets, including South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana, as well as the role of the digital economy in driving sustainable growth across the continent.
MTN Group President and Chief Executive Officer Ralph Mupita on Wednesday met with Dan Katz during the latter’s visit to South Africa for meetings with government authorities and private sector representatives.
Katz was accompanied by his Advisor, Matthew Jones; IMF Mission Chief for South Africa, Delia Velculescu; and IMF Senior Resident Representative and Head of the South Africa Office, Tidiane Kinda.
The discussions focused on the macroeconomic outlook across MTN’s key markets, including South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana, as well as the role of the digital economy in driving sustainable growth across the continent.

Mupita was joined at the meeting by MTN Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Nompilo Morafo, Treasury Executive Thuto Shomang and Chief of Staff Jerry Varachia.
MTN said the engagement aligns with its purpose of “leading digital solutions for Africa,” which underpins the company’s Ambition 2030 strategy aimed at accelerating digital transformation and empowering consumers, homes and businesses across the continent through digital platforms.
Concluding the meeting, Mupita highlighted the importance of global partnerships in advancing Africa’s digital agenda.
