Uganda has taken a significant step in advancing its digital economy with the launch of Postcom, a national e-commerce platform developed by Posta Uganda. The platform was officially unveiled by Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku at the Uganda Media Centre, marking a new milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey.
The introduction of Postcom aligns with Uganda’s Digital Transformation Roadmap (FY2023/24–2027/28), a strategic framework aimed at building a more inclusive, competitive, and digitally empowered economy. The platform is designed to provide a secure and accessible online marketplace where Ugandans—particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)—can showcase, buy, and sell locally produced goods with ease.
By leveraging Posta Uganda’s extensive nationwide logistics network, Postcom also addresses one of the key barriers to e-commerce growth in emerging markets: last-mile delivery. This integration is expected to enable efficient distribution of goods across the country while opening up access to both local and international markets for entrepreneurs.
The initiative further supports the government’s Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy by promoting local production and consumption. It is also expected to drive digital inclusion, create new income opportunities, and strengthen the overall resilience of Uganda’s economy.
Officials have called on government agencies, private sector players, and entrepreneurs to adopt the platform, positioning Postcom as a key tool for accelerating economic transformation and expanding Uganda’s participation in the digital marketplace.
