Ultrahuman has been expanding its ecosystem of health tracking tech with the recent launch of the Ultrahuman Ring Pro and the Ultrahuman Photon (a red light therapy device). To make the experience even better, the stat tracking more accurate and the insights more helpful, the company has completely overhauled its app with the Ultrahuman Emerald update.
This update adds the Ultra-Sphere to the app, which is a sort of digital mood ring – an orb that changes color to give you instant feedback on how you are doing. A deep green means you are thriving, while amber suggests that you slow down and recharge.
The Ultra-Sphere is a key part of the Emerald update to the Ultrahuman app
The color is just part of it – the orb also gives you one-word advice on what to do next, e.g. it will say “Hydrate”, nudging you to drink some water. This at-a-glance suggestion is supported in more detail below in the “Next best actions” list.
The advice is calculated based on 60 biomarkers and data points – info collected over the last 7 days from sleep, recovery, HRV, skin temperature, movement, stress and glucose tracking (the latter requires M2 Live). It’s important to note that this isn’t a cloud-based feature, instead the algorithm works on your phone and can be used offline and off-grid.
Additionally, the app’s advice is adjusted according to your profile – are you an athlete, a parent, are you jet-lagged, are you on the night shift and so on.
The app tracks a rich set of health data to measure your status
Ultrahuman is also releasing a firmware update for its rings that improves the accuracy of heart-rate tracking and that includes a major overhaul of the way that VO2 Max is calculated.
The Emerald update for the Ultrahuman app is currently in beta – you can get into the early access program for iOS by following this link. If you don’t have an Ultrahuman ring yet, you can pick one up with a 10% discount thanks to our special code GSM10. Browse the available models on Ultrahuman.com.
You can use a variety of other devices in addition to an Ultrahuman ring
The app can use other devices in addition to the ring – it can gather health data from your Apple Watch, a Whoop band, Polar and Garmin devices, as well as chest strap heart rate monitors. It can even use your AirPods.
