If you own one of Amazon’s Kindle Scribe Colorsoft tablets, then you might want to check your device for a software update—it looks like Amazon is bringing new visual changes to the product range, as confirmed by Panos Panay, the company’s Senior Vice President for Devices & Services.
With that said, the update features a new system-wide Dark Mode—unlike previous versions limited to specific menus, users can now apply dark mode across the entire device interface. This includes the Home screen, the Library, and Scribe Notebooks, in addition to the standard reading experience. The update also brings new customization settings, allowing users to toggle the mode manually or schedule it for specific times of the day. Panay shared his own images showing the new dark mode setting in action:
Additionally, Kindle Scribe will recieve “Smart Shapes,” a new productivity tool that’s designed for digital note-taking. It’s accessible directly from the toolbar in Notebooks, and allows users to instantly insert structured lines, arrows, circles, triangles, and rectangles. Amazon says that the new update is intended to help users create cleaner, more professional diagrams and notes with greater speed and precision.
