If you’re thinking of a way to virtually try on outfits to get a preview of how they’ll look like on you, then you might want to see what Google’s been up to. The company recently confirmed the launch of a new AI-powered wardrobe feature within Google Photos, which lets users get a glimpse of how they’ll look with different wardrobe combos. As per Google’s announcement:
Getting dressed is about to get easier, no matter how full your closet is. To help streamline your “nothing to wear” mornings — and evenings and vacations — a new Google Photos feature will soon catalog the clothes you’re wearing in photos and create a digital closet that puts your wardrobe at your fingertips.
The new feature will also scan a user’s photo library to identify clothing items and then curate them into a centralized collection. Users can also sort their in-app closet by category, which includes more specific items like tops, bottoms, jewelry, with the option of mixing and matching them depending on mood and occasion. Google is also introducing a virtual “Try it on” tool, allowing users to generate a digital preview to see how an outfit looks before physically getting dressed.
As for availability, the feature will begin rolling out this summer for Android devices, with a subsequent launch for iOS users afterwards.
