Google’s clearly been going all-in with its Ai-powered efforts, and it’s doing everything it can to apply newer software features in as many different fields as possible. More recently, Google announced that’s it rolling out a suite of new AI-powered features within Search, which are designed to make planning trips, itineraries and everything in between much easier.
The new update comes with a feature called Canvas in AI Mode, which provides users with a dedicated space to build customized travel itineraries. Users can simply describe the type of trip and their specific needs to AI Mode, which then generates a detailed plan that integrates real-time data from Google Search to include flights and hotels, location details, photos, and reviews from Google Maps.
Users can further refine the plan by asking follow-up questions and weigh tradeoffs, like proximity to different activities. Canvas travel planning is currently available on desktop in the U.S. for those opted into the AI Mode experiment in Labs.
Google also unveiled the global expansion of Flight Deals, an AI-powered search tool within Google Flights that lets users describe their travel preferences, allowing the AI to hunt for the best available bargains. Flight Deals is now rolling out to over 200 countries and territories worldwide, with support for more than 60 languages.
Additionally, Google is expanding AI Mode’s agentic capabilities to streamline the booking process for various services. Users can describe their needs and preferences, and AI Mode will search multiple reservation platforms and websites for options like restaurant reservations, event tickets, or local appointments. It then provides a curated list with direct links to partners like OpenTable, Ticketmaster, and Booksy to finalize the booking.
Google plans to extend this feature to complete flight and hotel bookings directly within AI Mode, and aims to work with major industry partners including Booking.com, Expedia, and Marriott International.
